यस विद्यालयको ऐतिहासिक पृष्ठभूमि यस प्रकारको रहेको छ । हाम्रो देश नेपालको सुदुरपश्चिम प्रदेश नं.७ को कञ्चनपुर जिल्लाको दक्षिणी भेगमा रहेको पुनर्वास क्षेत्रले परिचित साविक कालिका वार्ड नं. ६ ( हाल पुनर्वास न.पा.वार्ड १ ) अशुँवर्मावस्ती गाउँका मध्य भागमा विद्यालय अवस्थित रहेको छ । यस विद्यालयको स्थापना तत्कालिन प्र.अ. श्री रविलाल कँडेल ज्यूको नेतृत्वमा २०३७ साल माघ २० गते बुधबार श्रीपञ्चमीको शुभ अवसरमा भएको थियो । यस विद्यालयको सेवा क्षेत्र अन्तर्गत तत्कालिन पुनर्वास कम्पनी द्घारा देशको विभिन्न भागहरुबाट बाढी पिडित तथा सुकुम्बासीहरु लाई व्यवस्थित बसोबासका निमित्त जंगल कटान गरी वि.स.२०३७ साल को जनमत संग्रह पश्चात लगत्तै बसालेको बस्ती हो । त्यसै कारण देशका विभिन्न भागहरुबाट विभिन्न जात जाती तथा संस्कृति तथा धार्मिक विविधता भएका जनसमुदायको वास स्थानको रुपमा यो क्षेत्र परिचित छ ।
The historical background of this school is as follows: The school is located in the middle of Anshuvarma Basti, formerly Kalika Ward No. 6 (currently Punarwas Municipality, Ward No. 1), in the well-known Punarwas region situated in the southern part of Kanchanpur district within Province No. 7 of Sudurpashchim Province, Nepal. The school was established on Wednesday, Magh 20, 2037 BS (on the auspicious occasion of Shree Panchami) under the leadership of the then Headmaster, Mr. Rabilal Kandel. The service area of this school is a settlement established immediately after the national referendum of 2037 BS, when the erstwhile Punarwas Company cleared the forest to provide systematic settlement for flood victims and landless people from various parts of the country. Consequently, this region is known as a settlement for communities belonging to diverse castes, cultures, and religions hailing from different parts of the nation.
२०३७ सालमा बस्तीको विकास भए पश्चात यस क्षेत्रमा बसोबास गर्ने बुद्घिजिवी,समाजसेवी तथा शिक्षप्रेमीहरुको अनवरत प्रयासबाट यस क्षेत्रमा विद्यालयको आवश्यकता महसुस गरी स्व. श्री अमर बहादुर शेरचनको अध्यक्षतामा ५ सदस्यीय सञ्चालक समिति गठन गरि २०३७ साल माघ २० गते श्रीपञ्चमीका दिन विधिवत रुपमा एक जना शिक्षकको स्थानिय स्तरबाट व्यवस्था गरी अध्ययन अध्यापन कार्य प्रारम्भ शुरु भई यस विद्यालयमा हाल निरन्तर अध्ययन अध्यापन भईरहेको छ । आफ्नो स्थापना कालदेखी यस विद्यालयले शैक्षिक क्षेत्रमा सदैव आफ्नो स्तर उच्च राख्न सफल छ । यस विद्यालयले शिक्षक दरबन्दी अभावका बाबजुट २०६१ सालमा नि.मा.वि. तह सञ्चालनको अनुमति प्राप्त गरी वि.स. २०६४ सालमा ३जना राहत दरबन्दी पाउन सफल भयो । वि.स. २०६६ सालमा पुन.यहाँका बुद्धिजिवी, समाजसेवी, शिक्षाप्रेमी, तथा अभिभावकहरुको सहयोग र निर्णयबाट विद्यालयको आन्तरिक स्रोतबाट मा.वि. तहका कक्षा सञ्चालन गरियो । वि.स. २०६६ साल मा.वि. तहका कक्षा सञ्चालन स्वीकृती पाएता पनि वि.स. २०७३ सालमा १ जना मा.वि दरबन्दी पाउन सफल भयो । हाल यो विद्यालयलमा आवश्यक दरबन्दी , भौतिक,आर्थिक तथा शैक्षिक समस्याको सामना गर्दै कक्षा १ देखि १०कक्षा सम्म संचालित छ ।
भौगोलिक अवस्था
यस श्री शान्ति माध्यामिक विद्यालय कञ्चनपूर जिल्लाको निर्वाचन क्षेत्र नं. १ अन्तरगत तराइको समथर भागमा पर्ने पूर्नवास नगरपालिका को वार्ड नं. १ अंशुवर्मावस्तीमा अवस्थित छ । जिल्ला सदरमूकाम करिव ७० किमी दक्षिण पूर्वमा रहेको छ । भने कैलाली जिल्लाको सदरमूकाम धनगढी देखि १६.१७ कि.मी दक्षिण पश्चिममा पर्दछ । यस विद्यालयको करिव ३ कि.मी. पूर्वमा क्ष्द्यच्म् बजार छ भने चौरतिर गाउँ–गाउँ ले घेरिएको छ । रामवस्ती, कोटीहोम, महेन्द्रवस्ती, वलभद्रवस्ती को विचमा पर्ने यो विद्यालयको सेवा क्षेत्र पनि यिनै वस्तीहरु हुन । जिल्लाको दक्षिण पूर्वमा पनि यो क्षेत्र सुन्दर एवं मनोरम प्राकृतिक वातावरणमा रहेको यस विद्यालय नजिक सुन्दर बन्दाताल एवं मनोरम स्थल ले यस क्षेत्रलाई अझै मनोरम वनाएको छ । हाल यस विद्यालयमा १ वटत लेन्टर सहित पक्की भवन र ५ वटा कर्कट पाता भएका पक्की भवन गरि ६ वटा भवन १७ वटा कोठाहरु छन । जस्मा १ वटा कार्यालय, १ वटा स्टाफ कोठा, १ कम्प्युटर कोठा, १ वटा पुस्तकालय कोठा, १ वटा विज्ञान प्रयोगशाला कोठा रहेको छ । विद्यालयको हाता भित्र खेल्ने मैदान र चारैतिर पर्खाल र २ वटा गेट रहेका छन ।
Following the development of the settlement in 2037 BS, intellectuals, social workers, and education enthusiasts residing in this area recognized the need for a school through their persistent efforts. A 5-member management committee was formed under the chairmanship of the late Mr. Amar Bahadur Sherchan, and formal teaching and learning activities commenced on Magh 20, 2037 BS, on the day of Shree Panchami, by arranging a teacher locally. Since its inception, the school has successfully maintained a high standard in the academic sector. Despite a shortage of teacher quotas, the school obtained permission to operate lower secondary classes in 2061 BS and successfully received 3 relief teacher quotas in 2064 BS. In 2066 BS, with the cooperation and decision of local intellectuals, social workers, education lovers, and guardians, secondary-level classes were operated using the school's internal resources. Although secondary-level classes received operational approval in 2066 BS, the school successfully secured 1 secondary-level teacher quota in 2073 BS. Currently, facing various challenges related to staff quotas, physical infrastructure, and financial and educational constraints, the school operates classes from grade 1 to 10.
This Shree Shanti Secondary School is situated in Anshuvarma Basti, Ward No. 1 of Punarwas Municipality, located in the flat plains of the Terai region under Constituency No. 1 of Kanchanpur District. It is situated about 70 kilometers southeast of the district headquarters, and approximately 16.17 kilometers southwest of Dhangadhi, the headquarters of Kailali District. About 3 kilometers to the east of the school lies the I.D.P. market, while the surrounding areas are enclosed by villages. Positioned in the middle of settlements such as Ramvasti, Kotihom, Mahendravasti, and Balbhadravasti, these communities also form the service area of the school. Located in the southeastern part of the district, this area features a beautiful and picturesque natural environment, enhanced further by the nearby scenic Banda Lake and other charming spots. Currently, the school has a total of 6 buildings—consisting of 1 concrete building with a roof slab (lenter) and 5 concrete buildings with corrugated iron sheet roofs—comprising 17 rooms in total. These include 1 office room, 1 staff room, 1 computer room, 1 library room, and 1 science laboratory room. Within the school premises, there is a playground, and the compound is enclosed by a boundary wall with 2 gates.
